Directing

As a director, I am known for my offbeat sensibilities. My work consists of equal parts sharp commentary, dark humor, and a persistent undercurrent of empathy.

My training as an actor certainly informs my work as a director, and I bring that experience into every rehearsal room. I speak the language, understand actor processes, with communication and trust being at the core of every rehearsal. I am able to create a fun, collaborative environment between myself and the actors, while also maintaining commitment to detail and an unapologetic specificity. I’m also incapable of doing anything halfway – those who know me know that when I’m invested in a project, I am fully invested. (Sorry to my friends who have to listen to me ramble. Love you guys<3)

I’m happy to wear multiple hats in a production – I even learned how to build puppets for my solo directorial debut. And having a background in composition and vocal arranging, music often finds it’s way into my work as a natural extension of the storytelling. I’ve arranged for several productions, even composing original songs for a world-premiere musical!

If you are a freak, a comedy nerd, or just want to feel something, I think you might enjoy my work.

And if you don’t, that’s okay. I can’t tell you what to do.
